Masonry Insulation Solutions

<  Back

The new R-values required for masonry recognise the energy and comfort benefits of thermal storage capability of thermal construction - this is known as Thermal Mass.

With recent changes to Clause H1 (Energy Efficiency) of the Building Code, designs for masonry residential buildings maybe undertaken using the Schedule Method (see Firth Energy Efficient Masonry Construction).

Where thermal mass is not available to the inside - higher R-values will be required. Clause H1 also allows for the use of a Calculation Method of design as contained in NZS 4218:2004. Firth Masonry Insulation Solutions provides several solutions available with the required R-values for external and internal insulation.
