New to match old

When the Waiuku Estuary Village and Rest Home were looking to extend their facility their architect designed the new wing to ensure it would blend in beautifully with the old by once again using Firth’s tried and true Pioneer bricks.

"The original part of the Rest Home was built about 15 years ago," says Iris Durney, Rest Home Manager at Waiuku Estuary Village. "We required an extension to our facility to add an additional 20 beds to provide hospital level care for the community of Waiuku."

"When we were asked to source the bricks for the new extension we were glad to see that Firth still manufactures the Pioneer brick - Rumbled in Autumn Hues," said Kevin Leeming, Director of Jeffery Leeming. "Firth supplied approximately 15,000 bricks to complete the new extension. The job went well and Christy from Firth was extremely helpful throughout the process. If you look closely you can see the old versus the new brick but it certainly isn't noticeable as an extension which is a good result for our company and the customer is happy."

"We are certainly pleased with the new extension and the work done by all contractors," adds Iris.

The new wing of the rest home is now in operation and the residents are enjoying their larger modernised facility.
