Element Magazine June 2011

  1. EQ Ribraft - a new and improved flooring solution

Engineers and Firth customers alike have heaped praise on the performance of Firth's Ribraft flooring system which significantly reduced damage to the houses it underpinned in Canterbury's recent earthquakes.

  2. Quake Foam - liquefaction put to good use

After the 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Canterbury on 13 June, the volume of liquefaction requiring disposal is larger than ever. However, Firth Industries is ready to put the liquefaction to good use – as an ingredient in a special concrete that will help fill holes left by the quakes.

  3. Firth’s SCC supplies strength and flexibility in tight spot

The damage inflicted on the Park Terrace apartments in Christchurch following the recent earthquakes meant the team at Mainzeal had to find an innovative way to provide additional support to the structure so the building could be accessed safely and assessed.

  4. Repairs underway at Arts Centre

Work has begun all around the city to shore up and strengthen those buildings not marked for demolition for either further assessment or as part of the extensive repair work that will be required to make them sound once again.
