The clock tower at Christchurch's Art Centre has recently undergone stabilisation by the team at Fletcher Construction with help from Firth Certified Concrete and JFC Pumps Ltd.
"The Arts Centre was substantially damaged in the February 22 quake," said Jack Harris, Operations Manager for Fletcher Construction. "It was necessary to create a steel framework, that has now been cast in concrete, to stabilise the clock tower and essentially hold up the structure."
"With another major earthquake occurring on June 13 we are very pleased to see that the steel structure held up very well. It is also interesting to note that the steel used for the stays were previously the light towers from AMI stadium, prior to the construction of the new Deans Stand."
