Firth EcoPave System a friend to the environment

Stormwater run off from traditional pavers and driveways can often cause stormwater systems to be overloaded in heavy downpours. Firth’s new EcoPave System is an alternative to traditional pavers and concrete, allowing stormwater to permeate the paver (or its surrounds) thus significantly reducing peak water flow during storms.

Firth's EcoPave system also preserves water quality and permits rainwater to be absorbed by the pavement. The greywacke aggregate sub-base has the ability to filter contaminants such as Zinc and Copper delivering a cleaner water back into the ground or stormwater system.

Advantages of the Firth EcoPave System:

  • Reduces rainfall runoff from hard surfaces decreasing demand on drainage systems.
  • Reduces the need for retention structures such as ground sumps.
  • Recharges natural groundwater and aquifers.
  • Improves hydrological management of stormwater peak flow by releasing in a controlled manner.
  • Heavy metals such as zinc and copper may be filtered by cationic exchange using greywacke base course drainage aggregates.
