Firth works hard to reduce footprint

Environmental sustainability continues to be an important drive for Firth. A goal of 5% reduction in carbon emissions (based on 2007 levels) has prompted a focus on key areas of business where emissions can be reduced.

Firth has developed an environmental sustainability plan to address three key areas:

  1. Improving environmental systems and compliance by developing automated email environmental reporting; managing consents with CSVUE software and investigating the use of COGNOS for environmental data collection and reporting.
  2. Communication and engagement in environmental sustainability by regular updates on environmental performance by site against production and the appointment of environmental representatives at each site to improve communication lines.
  3. Sustainable resource use enabling reduction in the environmental costs of doing business by improving data collection and reporting, reducing energy use and developing initiatives to reduce waste.
