Firth Bricks: Contemporary, cost effective and locally manufactured

Bricks are back in style – not the red Coronation Street kind, but stylish, contemporary concrete bricks from Firth.

Manufactured right here in New Zealand from locally sourced materials, Firth Bricks are a sustainable, cost effective, low maintenance cladding option for home builders, available in a range of contemporary colours and sizes.

We talked to a couple of home builders to get their views on the Firth Brick range.

“I am a designer and consultant for a number of building firms where I help customers choose product options for their new homes to fit within their budgets,” says Lynley Hansen, Director of By Design Interiors. “Often people will come to me with photos from Pinterest of expensive, glazed, imported bricks which just don’t fit within their budget. When I show them the Firth Brick range they realise they can have a modern, contemporary style of brick in some very cool colours, at a very good price …and best of all they look really great when they’re up.”

Lynley says customers appreciate that the bricks are made in New Zealand by Firth, reducing their carbon footprint. “Sustainability is very important to people these days with climate change at the forefront of their minds.”

“Concrete bricks also have a nice even colour throughout the unit so if they happen to chip at a later date, it doesn’t stand out like a chip does on a clay brick where the colour is only on the surface.”

“We offer the Firth Brick range to customers as a cladding option for our range of houses,” says Evan Christieson, Sales Manager for Orange Homes. “People are often surprised to hear that concrete bricks are the cheapest of the cladding options we offer! With Firth’s range of modern colours and the longer, narrower profile plus all sorts of coloured mortar options from Dricon they can achieve a multitude of contemporary looks.”

Firth Bricks are also very low maintenance and don’t require painting every five to 10 years or require a lot in the way of cleaning.”

“At the end of the day it’s up to our customers what option they choose to clad their homes in, but we are seeing FirtBricks being chosen more and more.”
