Concrete in Life 2025/26
Firth & Golden Bay are proud to support the Concrete in Life 2025/26 Global Photography Competition by offering an extra prize for New Zealand entries to celebrate local talent and creativity. We invite art students enrolled at New Zealand tertiary institutions to enter the global competition and be in the running for an additional $1,000 NZD prize exclusively for New Zealand Art Students
How to Enter:

Submit your photo or video entry via Instagram. Including the following information:
- #ConcreteInLife2526
- The hashtag # of the category you are entering – #UrbanConcrete; #ConcreteInfrastructure; #ConcreteInDailyLife; #ConcreteBeautyAndDesign (one per photo)
- The hashtag # of the country where you took the photo
- And add a New Zealand tag: #NewZealand or #Aotearoa
- Tag @theGCCA in your post.
You can enter as many photos as you like, but each one can only be considered for one category.
Remember to make your photo public on Instagram or we won’t be able to view your photos.
To be eligible for the NZ Art Student Prize you must also email a copy of your entry (including a screenshot or link to your post) to firthmarketing@firth.co.nz with your name, tertiary provider, and contact details.
Eligibility:
Must be an art student currently enrolled at a New Zealand tertiary provider.
Entries must follow the global competition rules and be submitted by the official deadline.
Firth & Golden Bay will select one winning entry from New Zealand to receive the $1,000 prize, celebrating how concrete supports life in Aotearoa.

Terms & Conditions
- Eligibility
Only open to individuals who are registered as an Art Student at a New Zealand Tertiary Provider. Employees and immediate family of Fletcher Building and it’s advertising, promotion and production agencies are not eligible to enter. By submitting an entry, entrants agree to these terms and condition.
The decisions of the judges are final and binding in all respects. - Competition Timing
The competition is open for submission from 5th October 2025 to 30 November 2025 at 11:59pm GMT. All entries must be received by both the GCCA and emailed to firthmarketing@firth.co.nz no later than the end time to be eligible. - Competition Assignment
The Competition invites the entrant to submit original photos capturing what the entrant considers to be the essence of “concrete in life” at any time of day, be it poignant, inspiring, quirky or amusing (the “Photo” or “Photos”). - To Enter
To enter the Competition, entrants must post their entry photograph on Instagram with the hashtag #ConcreteInLife2526 to submit to the Competition and one of four category hashtags below to submit the photo to one of the four Competition categories (see “5. COMPETITION CATEGORIES” in the GCCA Terms and Conditions). Entrants also need to specify the location in which they took their entry using a hashtag with country location. #Urbanconcrete; #ConcreteInfrastructure; #ConcreteInDailyLife; #ConcreteBeautyAndDesign.
Entrants must make their profiles public so that we can see photos. If entrants do not, the judging team will not be able to view their entries. A copy of your entry must also be emailed to firthmarketing@firth.co.nz

There is one $1,000 prize sponsored by Firth & Golden Bay for the best photo (as selected by Firth & Golden Bay) taken by a student enrolled in Art at a New Zealand Tertiary Institute over and above the prizes offered by the GCCA. The NZ prize is not conditional on winning a prize from the GCCA official competition and will be decided by judges based in New Zealand at Fletcher Building. - Entries
Up to the top 5 Student Entries (as selected by Firth and Golden Bay in their sole discretion) will be printed by Fletcher Building and put on display at a function to be held in March/April 2026 (date to be confirmed) where the winner will be announced. The entries will then be displayed within Fletcher Building’s offices for a period of time. They printed images will not be returned to the entrants at the end of the display.
You will be required to show proof of enrolment in an Art programme at a New Zealand Tertiary Institute to be selected as a top 5 winner.
If those selected in the top 5 cannot provide proof of enrolment, new top images will be selected.
Up to the top 5 will be selected on 16th of February 2026, winning selections will be contacted via the email address they submitted their entry from on 17th of February 2026. If we do not hear back from the winners within 5 days we reserve the right to select a replacement winner.
The top image and winner of the $1,000 prize will be selected on the 16th of February 2026, and will be announced at the function on a date to be confirmed for March/April 2026 (to be confirmed at least 4 weeks prior to the event).
By entering you agree to your entered image and a photo of the entrant and name, and school to be used in marketing materials and in promotion as a winner across Fletcher Building entities social media pages.
